WEAK POINTS AND PROBLEMS DETECTED IN PROJECT
PLAN AND/OR DEVELOPMENT:
too little communication among students
controlled by teachers: what could we do to implement their direct
communication and curiosity beyond their being shy and their feeling of being judge
for their English?
Some of my students were not interested in the
project, so I had to make a great effort to encourage them to do it.
To avoid shyness
during communication especially speaking
, we can arrange a regular skype session, match our students one by one and encourage them to use forum before skype sessions in order
to minimize the excitement of the students and feel more relaxed. I think when
they ınvolve in the project activities, they can improve their english well and
cope with their prejudice against communicating with project partners ın
English. (Gülşen Korucu)
Firstly, my students
loved speaking via Skype, it was new and fresh for them, but I really had to
motivate them to do tasks like preparing some stuff for swapping boxes. They
enjoy receiving letters but writing and making something for their peers was a
huge challenge for them. Another thing is that we should give more “power” to
our students, for instance they should choose a leader among their groups who
would be responsible for things like recording movies and later on editing
them. Students should feel it is their project and we only help them to achieve
all goals.
We had a busy program at school and it
interfered with the possibility to communicate more with the partners ,
especially we did not manage to have Skype meetings.
THE BEST OF THE PROJECT WAS…the lipdub. The
students enjoyed it a lot.The
communication used was theirs: motion, music and videos.
The Skype sessions, we should have devoted
more time for it.
Swap box .. They enjoy
sending some cultural presents and handwriting letters to their penfriends in
international teams of the the project. They feel thrilled and amazed while
waiting the box from project partners. But when they don’t receive any letters
from penfriend despite his /her colorful
and nice envelope , they can feel a bit disappointed (Gülşen Korucu)
Of course Skype sessions,
real English, meeting their peers from other countries. For me personally the
best are swapping boxes, even if my students are very lazy, I love to “touch”
other culture.
The lipdub, as the students really loved it.
In a few hours they were there together, trying to make the dance as nice as
possible.
IDEAS TO IMPROVE FUTURE PROJECTS
Music appeals a lot so songs could be a valid
help to improve their English but also gestures, peculiar of teenagers. I can
trace the same types of gestures in schools and always wonder if they are also
used in other European countries since the majority of them come from the USA.
Also the sharing of the most common mistakes
in English, considering them a resource to understand if they come from our
languages or from what kind of ‘connection’.
Wait and see what’s the eTwinning topic for
next course…. if we adapt to it, maybe we can be more successful in European
and National Prizes.
I exactly agree with you.
ıf we can increase collaboration in activities among our students more and choose the global topics for next project
such as global warming ,cultural heritage , human rights , peace etc., ıt is possible
to get European prizes. We are lucky to have a great partnership for 3 years
..It is an advantage to discuss more , exchange our ideas and creat new ideas
cooperatively .(Gülşen Korucu)
Each year we received
the NQL and the EQL for our projects, that means we ARE a dream team. We share
leadership, tasks, ideas. We are helpful and learn from each other so much, our
collaboration is perfect. I agree that the topic of our students’ next project
must be connected with their interests, so I see here the key to success. But I
also would like to involve more all countries and I mean both teachers and
students. Although I have no idea how to do it right.
I agree that we really are the dream team. I
hope that we will cooperate next year, too.
